Greenland is a country the size of Western Europe with a population the size of a mid-size city. Therefore, it is not the most obvious place to run e-commerce, and most web shops refrain from delivering to Greenland. If they do, the delivery costs are very high. KNI wanted to change all of this and hired CPH Cloud Company to establish the first true e-commerce in Greenland. KNI is owned by the Government of Greenland and has a universal service obligation, which means that the part of the population that is spread over more than 70 small settlements without roads in between also has access to buy the most necessary consumer goods.

The shop is only the tip of the iceberg

With pisisa.gl, CPH Cloud has developed an e-commerce solution that, in addition to handling the traditional functions for a web shop, also handles several challenges that are specific to Greenland. The solution integrates with a workflow that includes a number of different suppliers, shipping and dynamic calculation of shipping rates for all offered products. The thousands of items that the shop offers are sold at very ordinary prices, including shipping. The people of Greenland are used to waiting for things, so they do not have much against long delivery times, and if it has to go faster – or if the sea is frozen, they can pay extra for air transport.

CPH Cloud Company has delivered more than expected! They have met the challenges of bringing e-commerce to Greenland with both empathy and professionalism, and I would like to highlight the good project management. You can really feel their passion for what they do. CPH Cloud Company has delivered better than I expected in all respects.
